Tutu Length and Sizing

Let's talk about tutu sizing and lengths.  I have a standard sizing chart for my tutu listings and my adult tutus are available in three different lengths.  Since it can be hard to decide on a length and I can only fit 5 pictures in a etsy listing, I'm going to try to show the different looks of the three lengths of tutus in this blog post.  First, this is my sizing chart, the lengths for the girls tutus correspond with the waist size but I do take special requests.
Size Chart:
0-6 months 13-14"waist 7" length
6-12 months 14-15" waist 7"length
12months to 24 months -16”-18” waist-length 7”
2t/3t -18”-20” waist- length 11”
4t/5t- 20”-22” waist-length 13”
6-7 waist 22”-24”- length 13”
8-10- 24”-25” waist- length 14”

adult sizes available in 9"running tutu length, 14" length or 18" length
Adult Small 25-26"waist,
Adult Medium 27-28" waist
Adult Large 30-32 waist
Adult extra large 34-38 waist
adult 2x large 40-42" waist

The waist measurement is the actual waist.  Many people like to wear their tutus on their hips.  All my tutus are made on a stretchable, no roll elastic waistband and will stretch several inches without ruining the fullness of the tutu, but if you order to your hip size your tutu will most likely be too large.

For adult tutus, I offer three lengths.  The 9" length is perfect for running, a short and sassy, full tutu.  The 14" is the most popular and is full and fluffy, long enough for good coverage but not so long that it will get in the way while running for fun or wearing out and about.  This is a great option for Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party- long enough for a costume look but not so long as to interfere with getting on and off ride vehicles.  The 18" is great if you want a more a tutu with more flow and more of a costume look,  but the length will decrease the fullness.

I don't have an adult model to show the differences in length, but I do have many pictures:)  First off some photos of my daughter with her tutus.  She is wearing 14" tutus in the tween size in these photos and is just over 4 feet tall.  You can see how full the 14"length tutus are!

Next up, some 9" length tutus.  You can see that they still have a great amount of fullness and are just super cute and sassy!

Here is a 9" Jack Skellington tutu and a 14" Jack Skellington tutu:

Next, an 18" R2D2 tutu and 14" R2D2 tutu:

I'm going to work on getting more pictures to better show the different lengths.  I love seeing pictures of my customers in their awesome tutus- if you have some you'd like to share, please send them in!  For a limited time use code BLOG10 at checkout and sae 10% in my shop:-)

1000 Sale Milestone and Giveaway!

I started selling on etsy about three years ago.  Just for fun.  I was always making bows and tutus from my daughter and her friends, and then friends of friends and... as my network expanded I decided to give etsy a try.  It took almost three years to make it to 100 sales and I was so thrilled.

Now, 8 months after hitting 100 sales, I've made it to the 1000th sale milestone.  I am so thankful for the support I've gotten from friends and family and the fabulous customers that have made my etsy shop successful.  I love that I have so many repeat customers and custom requests.  It makes my day when someone comes back for more:)

To celebrate and thank everyone, I am having a 1000th sale giveaway.  I'm giving away a tutu in either a child size or an adult running length.  The winner chooses the design. Giveaway ends December 1st at midnight, ships to US addresses only.

Transform-Loot Crate Review

I spend a lot of time on girl stuff.  The tutus, bows and other things I make so that my daughter (and others) can indulge their girlyside and express her fandom.  So much time that I don't always spend as much time looking for things for my 14 yr old son to express his fandom- it's not as hard for boys to find stuff that features superheros and games and Star Wars, after all!

I ran across something called Loot Crate a couple months ago.  It's a subscription box service perfect for gamers and sci fi fans.  Every month has a different theme and is shipped out on the 20th of the month.  I read up on it and watched some video reviews and when I saw a chance to save 10% on a new subscription I went for it. Our first month was May and the theme was Adventure.  It was an awesome crate and I wish I would have taken pictures to share, it included an awesome Legend of Zelda shirt, Adventure Time and Minecraft goodies and more.  With the discount code it comes in at around $20 a month including the shipping charge.  The two months that we have subsribed both included t shirts, so I think that's a great deal!

June's theme was Tranform and was partly curated by the folks at Major League Gaming.  I knew we needed to keep our subscription because my son has been a giant transformers fan since birth!
Here is our June Loot Crate unboxing!

First look- an exclusive tshirt and something Starscream!

First lets look at the Starscream-

This hexbug may have been my favorite thing- we have so many hexbugs at our house but this is our first Bumblebee Hexbug!

My son loved the MLG- Major League Gaming wristband. Perfect to wear when you're playing xbox live with your buddies.

Then there were some decals and stickers, a "magazine" about the items in the box and this month's theme. Every month there is also a pin that matches the month's theme- like a badge.

I loved the shirt- a Transformers/Back the Future mashup:)

I think it's a great deal and have been impressed with the last two crates.  The July theme has just been announced as Villains and will include a Marvel exclusive!  Check it out here-LOOT CRATE Use the code VILLAINS and save 10% on your subscription!
